Yamamoto Masako Profile

Born in Naha, Okinawa. Graduated from Bunka Fashion College. Millinery and accessory designer.
After working for a company as accessory designer, she decided to become independent and start her own business in Shibuya, Tokyo. Designed costumes and hats for commercial films.
In 1993 she moved to Kochi Prefecture.
Starting from 1995 she has had her exhibition “Chatterbox hats” in libraries, at NHK Okinawa, various department stores and galleries. In 2011 she collaborates with the Kochi Sakamoto Memorial Hall and her exhibition called “Retired people BEST 10 ft. millinery Yamamoto Masako” was held both within Japan and overseas (Hawaii Convention Center, NY Japan Society, NY Janet Hall etc).
In 2013 her exhibition “Tairyobata HATS10” took place at the International Festival Mondial De L’image Sous Marine, in Marseille France. In 2014 she gave a lecture class at Ryukyu Shimpo Salon. Her articles were published in various newspapers such as Asahi Shinbunsha, Kochi Shinbunsha and Ryukyu Shimposha. She has been taking on new challenges by using washi and leather. Her goal is creating by the rules of “Fun to look at it, fun to use it”.
